5 Vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon Reviewed
2000-06-01

With the release of the 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon upon us we decided it would be a fun thing to sit down and taste through our first 5 releases all at one time to compare and see how they are aging. We asked veteran Wine Enthusiast Writer and afficionado Nathan Chroman to join us in the tasting. To avoid any bias of vintage Dimitri insisted we taste them blind. We thought that you’d enjoy hearing some of the comments from the tasting…

1992
This was the first Cabernet Sauvignon vintage released from JARVIS. This wine showed amazing fruit and varietal character. A very elegant drinking Cabernet.

1993
The group unanimously agreed that this is the wine of choice for drinking now.

1994
"I would defy any one to find a better drinking Cab in the country!"
Nathan Chroman

1995
"This was the sleeper of the group, after opening up it had the most fruit of them all, what a great surprise!"
Nathan Chroman

1996
"This wine is the biggest wine of the bunch and will age the longest."
Dimitri Tchelistcheff
